2. Is a prescription required from my veterinarian to purchase Green Flower’s Equine CBD Formulations?

3. Will CBD work for all horses?
   Yes and No. All animals, including humans and horses, can benefit from supplementation of phytocannabinoids such as cannabidiol (CBD).  All mammals have an endocannabinoid system responsible for regulating and creating homeostasis among the various biological systems including, the immune system, skeletal system, neurological pathways, endocrine system, etc. There are many health benefits associated with the use of cannabidiol to maintain and stimulate a responsive endocannabinoid system. The anecdotal and pre-clinical evidence for cannabidiol as an anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anti-anxiety, and anticonvulsant is well established. However, as there are many variables to any particular disease state or specific condition, it is possible, that while one horse may respond almost miraculously to cannabinoid use, another may not experience much benefit at all. 4. Your products come in various potencies. Which one do I need?
   Equestrian Formulations come in 1800mg, 3600mg and 7200mg sizes. The milligrams listed on the label is the total CBD in the bottle. One size is not more powerful than another in effect, it simply contains more total CBD by volume. So, if your horse requires a daily dosage of 40mg, the 1800mg product would provide 45 days of dosage, the 3600mg product would provide 90 days of dosage and the 7200mg product would provide 180 days of dosage. The larger sizes provide the most cost-effective way to purchase CBD for those with multiple horses or who just want to save buying in bulk. If you are new to CBD and have not yet established your horse’s minimum effective dose, we recommend purchasing the 1800mg product and following the Stepwise Dosing Procedure.

5. Is CBD safe at high dosages? What are the side effects?
   There are multiple studies demonstrating the effectiveness of CBD in treating various conditions. Most of these studies conclude that CBD (cannabidiol) is safe and virtually free of side effects. A review on the Safety and side effects of cannabidiol by the NCBI for example suggests that controlled CBD (cannabidiol) administration is safe and non-toxic in humans and animals.
