Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the most prevalent cannabinoids in the cannabis plant and is the second most abundant cannabinoid in marijuana after THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). CBD can also be found in hemp, marijuana’s sister plant. In hemp, THC is only present in trace amounts, while CBD dominates the plant’s makeup. Unlike THC, CBD is completely nonpsychoactive and will not make you high. CBD is all relaxation without intoxication. Unlike marijuana, which remains illegal federally and in many states, hemp-derived CBD is legal and available in all 50 states without a prescription or medical marijuana card.

CBD began making headlines all over the world in 2013 when CNN aired a special documentary on the miraculous effects of CBD on a little girl named Charlotte Figi who had an extremely severe case of epilepsy called Dravet Syndrome. Since then, the medical potential of CBD has made it one of the most sought after alternative remedies for a number of health related conditions.  Scientific and clinical research—much of it sponsored by the US government—underscores CBD’s potential as a treatment for a wide range of conditions, including anxiety, arthritis, diabetesMS, chronic pain, schizophrenia, PTSD, depression, antibiotic-resistant infections, epilepsy, and other neurological disorders. CBD has demonstrable neuroprotective and neurogenic effects, and its anti-cancer properties are currently being investigated at several academic research centers in the United States and elsewhere.

NOTE: Cannabinoids are the primary chemical compounds produced by the cannabis plant and have been patented by the US Department of Health and Human Services as “antioxidants and neuroprotectants.”

How does CBD work? How can you claim CBD oil works on so many different conditions?

When you first begin your investigation into CBD, it’s natural to be skeptical of how one compound could effect so many conditions. To truly understand the power of CBD you have to understand the basics of the Endocannabinoid System.

Discovered in the late 1990s, all mammals produce cannabinoids naturally as part of what’s called our “Endocannabinoid System” (ECS). The ECS is a vast network of cell receptor proteins with many functions. Some describe the ECS as the greatest neurotransmitter system in the body. It plays an indispensable role in just about everything, including: mood, memory, motor control, immune function, pain perception, appetite, sleep, bone development and more.

Four primary purposes of the ECS include neuroprotection, stress recovery, immune balance, and homeostatic regulation. Homeostasis is the system responsible for creating and maintaining the body’s optimum energy balance. CBD taps into this balancing system to produce its multitude of therapeutic effects. CBD is able to interact with cells throughout our bodies because the molecule has a similar composition to the endocannabinoids the body produces naturally. Endo means inside and cannabinoid refers to action on cannabinoid receptors. In contrast, the cannabinoids in the cannabis plant are technically called phytocannabinoids.

As mammals, we have cannabinoid receptors all throughout the entire body. CB1 and CB2 cannabinoid receptors are present in the brain, every organ, every cell and even at the sub-cellular level. By adding natural plant-based cannabinoids into our diet we increase the overall GAIN of the ECS system and awaken our bodies intrinsic ability to heal itself.

Are Green Flower Botanical’s Hemp-Derived CBD products rich in phytocannabinoids and terpenes?

Yes. Our full-spectrum CBD oils contain a wide range of phytocannabinoids. Our hemp plant’s genetics have a naturally high concentration of the phytocannabinoid cannabidiol (CBD) while also containing a full spectrum of other phytocannabinoids, which makes our products unique. In the case of CBD Isolate products, our CBD is pulled and isolated from the same quality hemp plants as our full-spectrum products.

What is the difference between full-spectrum hemp-derived CBD and CBD isolate?

Green Flower Botanical’s full-spectrum hemp oils contain dozens of cannabinoids patented by the US Department of Health and Human Services as antioxidants and neuroprotectants, including cannabidiol (CBD). Our CBD Isolate products contain only the single CBD cannabinoid without the other complimentary

Which is best, Full-Spectrum CBD or CBD Isolate?

Some people prefer to consume CBD in conjunction with all the other naturally occurring cannabinoids (full-spectrum). Others prefer to only consume CBD by itself (isolate). Some people believe full-spectrum oils perform better for health concerns due to the “entourage effect” of all cannabinoids working together synergistically, while others indicate tremendous results from our CBD Isolate products. The idea behind full-spectrum is you have the whole plant working as nature intended, with all of the cannabinoids, terpenes and fatty-acids working together, the whole being greater than the sum of its parts. However, in some cases, CBD isolate may work better for certain people. In cases where an individual has severe allergies or aversions, CBD isolate is typically preferred. With limited medical research, at this point, it is a personal preference as to which is best in any individual case.

What is the entourage effect?

The “entourage effect” is the theory that full-spectrum oils perform better for health concerns than do  CBD isolates due to a superior impact from the “entourage” of all cannabinoids, terpenes and fatty-acids working together. Green Flower Botanical’s offers both full-spectrum and CBD isolate products.

Do I need a doctor’s prescription or a medical marijuana card to use Green Flower Botanical’s CBD products?

No. Green Flower Botanical’s products are classified as industrial hemp food products and are therefore available legally to everyone.

Under Section 7606 of the 2014 Farm Bill (Agricultural Act of 2014), Congress permits the growth and cultivation of industrial hemp under state sponsored departments of agriculture.

Are CBD products safe for children?

Yes. Our bodies naturally produce cannabinoids. Natural cannabinoids are found in the mother’s breast milk of all mammals. CBD has no lethal dose and/or harmful side effects. However, due to the neurological qualities of CBD, we encourage parents to consult their pediatrician before administering high doses of CBD to children.

Will Green Flower’s CBD products cause me to fail a drug test?

Our products contain 0.0% THC meaning that any THC found in our products is at a trace level. For instance a product may have .07% THC by weight (.3% is the legal limit). When considering that a user may take 10 – 20 drops per day of one of our products, and even that will be subject to some loss due to the absorption process by the body, it is highly unlikely that any of our products would trigger positive on a standard drug test.

That being said, while improbable it is not totally impossible. While extremely unlikely, there are some very sophisticated tests that could possibly pick up on that small of a trace amount in your system. However that type of test, while increasing the possibility of finding minuscule trace amounts of THC are not the standard type test used for employment or patient testing.

We have tested this in house and to-date have never seen a positive result. As well, we have never had a single report of any of our products producing a positive for THC.

Unfortunately, because of those trace amounts of THC and because it is technically possible, though highly unlikely, a certain level of test could pick up these trace amounts, prohibiting us from being able to give a 100% guaranteee.

What is the difference between Charlotte’s Web products and Green Flower Botanical’s products?

There is no difference in terms of the hemp-derived CBD utilized in each of these products. Charlotte’s Web is a specific consumer brand which happens to use the same hemp-derived CBD as Green Flower. As Tylenol is to acetaminophen, or Advil is to ibuprofen, so Charlotte’s Web is to CBD.

Yes. Green Flower Botanicals legally ships its proprietary Hemp-Derived CBD products to all 50 States. The United States Farm Bill of 2014 classified industrial hemp as containing less than 0.3% THC. Because our products contain either 0.0% THC or less than 0.3% THC (Oral-Syringes), we are allowed by U.S. Federal law to ship to all states.
